YOUTH MINISTRY

The Youth Ministry is a social support fraternity that welcomes all the teens in our community. This support group goal is to make sure that our youths have a comfortable setting in which they are able to freely express their thoughts and feelings, and talking about anything concerning their everyday lives. The youth ministry is deeply concerned about every single youth's life whether they are Christian (the follower of Christ) or not. We are willing to work together with them because this program does not discriminate against anyone, regardless of one’s religious affiliation, gender or color of origin. We have been commanded by Jesus Christ, our redeemer, to "Go into the entire world and preach the good news to all creation” (Mark 16:15, NIV).In order to satisfy our youths’ needs, we offer a variety of services:

· Anger management session

· Sex Education

· Alcohol and other illicit drugs prevention education

· Psycho-educational group session

· Stress Reduction

· Heterogeneous gang prevention education

· Summer School & Camp

· Picnic and sports

· After school program

· Vacation Bible School

· Hospital visits

· Life-Style Mentoring

· Confidential Counseling

· Bible Study

SENIOR CITIZEN

This program was created to assist church members who are 60 years old and older. We facilitate seniors within our community with their basic needs, such as the following:


· Provide money for Doctor’s visit
· Provide money for Doctor’s visit
· Conduct home visits when necessary
· Provide transportation for church and other daily activities
· Link seniors to necessary resources

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY COUNSELING

Philadelphia Evangelical Baptist Church (PEBC) implements Marriage and Family Counseling (MFC) program due to the augmentation of divorce rates in our community. The goal of this program is to help reduce or eliminate the level of separation and/or divorce among married couples in our community. For this purpose, PEBC has put into practice the following interventions for married couples in our community:

· Develop effective Teamwork

· Budget management skills

· Communication skills

· Domestic Violence session

· Marriage seminar

· Spouse Appreciation

· Ways to set boundaries

· Deficiency and intimacy

ADULT EDUCATION

This educational program has been provided by Philadelphia Evangelical Baptist Church (PEBC) leaders to teach our members how to be more receptive to changes involving our community. Furthermore, our members can continue learning to enhance their personal basic technological skills to give them a better understanding about the new generation’s culture, and to help them become more fluent in English. The services made available to our community throughout the Adult Education include:

· ESOL and GED program

· Literacy

· Citizenship class discussion

· Basic computer skills

Prayer Ministry

This ministry program operates with the help of experience mothers in our church. They devote their own time to work hand and hand with currently pregnant women to assure that they are feeling a great sense of support and to strengthen their faith in Christ throughout their pregnancy. In addition, a group of women and men gather on Mondays early in the morning to pray for the following reasons:

·  Prayer for healthy pregnancy, delivery of the babies and for their family members
·  Daily prayer for pregnant women
·  Monthly prayer/fellowship with other expectant mothers and ministry leaders
· Bi-monthly notes of encouragements
· Daily prayer for hospitalized patients and healthcare workers
· Prayers for all the babies our community

SINGLE PARENT COUNSELING

Since it has been proven that single parents are more likely to experience high levels of stress, frustration, burnout, and often have difficulty managing their lifestyle, Philadelphia Evangelical Baptist Church (PEBC) has created this program to help them alleviate these burdens. The program provides these sessions:

· How to balance work and family

· Stress Reduction

· How to deal with difficult decisions

· Time management

· Ways to effectively cope with lifestyles on a daily basis

· Commnunication skills

Food Ministry

The mission of the food ministry program is to serve as a neighborhood food umbrella for those who really need it. Throughout this program, Philadelphia Evangelical Baptist Church provides a variety of food, such as:

· Daily breads

· Rice and beans

· Provide refreshment every Sunday morning
